A graduate of Murray State’s master’s degree program in mass communications, Thomas also holds a bachelor’s degree in advertising from the University of Florida.

Elizabeth A. Thomas is the head of the public relations major and faculty advisor to the Murray State Chapter of PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America). She teaches PR Principles, Writing for Public Relations, PR Strategies: Tools & Trends and other courses within the JMC Department as needed. A veteran advertising, marketing and public relations executive, Thomas has over 34 years of industry experience. She has worked as a media planner, corporate marketing director, president and creative director of a full-service advertising and PR agency, and as the vice president (editorial division) of an international publishing house.

Research Interests:
An accomplished author/editor, Thomas’ current research focuses on social media and its changing role within marketing, PR and corporate communications. She is the owner of a Murray-based public relations consultancy specializing in social media management and strategies for businesses and organizations nationwide.
