Future Educators Association (FEA) Chapters
As TQI addresses teacher quality, the Future Educators Association (FEA), a student organization sponsored nationally by Phi Delta Kappa, has emerged as an outstanding vehicle for encouraging quality students to explore teaching as a career. TQI has promoted the establishment of FEA Chapters in schools that have the Dual Credit Teacher Education Program as well as other schools throughout the region. Through these FEA Chapters, students have the opportunity to gain a realistic understanding of the nature of education and the role of the teacher, as well as gain information about teaching as a profession, employment opportunities, financial assistance options, and educational issues such as professional mobility, diversity, and job security. TQI has supported the formation and development of twenty-two FEA chapters and supplied materials, information, speakers, and technical support to these chapters.
In addition, TQI sponsors the following major events:
- MSU Regional FEA Conference - This yearly event gives students an opportunity to visit the campus and learn more about going to college and becoming a teacher. From 2003-2010, two thousand thirty students have participated in the Regional FEA Conference. 2011 MSU Regional FEA Conference: Wednesday, October 26, 2011
- MSU FEA Summer Camp - TQI provides a week long summer camp for high school students who are interested in knowing more about teaching as a career. Since 2003, one hundred fifty students have attended the FEA Summer Camp at Murray State. 2011 MSU FEA Summer Camp: June 5-10, 2011
