Summer Institutes
TQI collaborates with the College of Science, Engineering and Technology, the College of Humanities and Fine Arts, and the College of Education to plan summer institutes for practicing teachers. The goal is to strengthen pedagogy and content knowledge in the classroom with an emphasis on technology. Participants receive tuition scholarships from TQI for three hours of graduate credit for each institute. Teaching materials and equipment are also provided. These practicing teachers work closely with the college professors in authentic experiences both on campus and in the field.
Additionally, they receive follow up support from TQI Faculty Scholars who assist them in implementing new concepts in their classrooms. Institutes for June 2011 are being planned in Writing & Literacy, Technology, and Science Inquiry. Online applications will be accepted beginning March 1, 2011. For additional information contact the TQI office at (270) 809-2090.
