Insurance
Everyone, particularly students, is strongly encouraged to have a health insurance plan. Students and their families should carefully evaluate their individual plans to determine whether the plan can be used in the local area (e.g., is it a PPO or HMO plan that will not cover local physicians and hospital? Will the plan require that the student return home for care that cannot be provided at Health Services?)
If students do not have health insurance, or if additional coverage is needed while a student, consider purchasing a basic policy that the university offers through a private agency. Currently, the plan is underwritten by The United Health Care Insurance Company. The rates may vary from year to year.
The insurance company mails brochures to all students prior to the fall semester. Brochures are also available at Health Services throughout the year.
