International Students

White College is providing more opportunities for our international student members, so they may feel more at home. These are also opportunities to introduce more cultural diversity to our members as a whole. After all, this is your world to explore!

International Women's Day Celebration

On International Women’s Day, we stood with all women to give them strength and to show that we support their demands for equality. We honored the achievements of women and girls on the 100th anniversary of International Women's Day and remembered those who were oppressed, denied education and basic health care, or were suffering violence, because of gender! The RCC organized an event on Thursday, March 8th, 6:00 p.m. in the TV Lounge of White College. More than ninety-five students participated. Our purposes were to support women’s rights efforts by developing a network of professionals who were willing to use their skills and experience to help promote women’s rights. We recognized the women in our everyday lives by giving them flowers and honored women who had made a difference in our life by making a tribute gift!

The Year of the Dragon

The White College RCC sponsored a program titled The Year of the Dragon in the White Hall lobby on February 22, 2012 at 8:00 p.m. Our visiting scholar from China Mrs. Yan Jiao, PEP, and Editor in the Preschool Education Department, was the guest speaker. The program was designed to create a cultural connection between the American and Chinese cultures. Seventy-five American and international students attended. The faculty and students conducted a discussion about the similarities and differences between the Chinese and American public school systems. The participants experienced the Chinese New Year festivities with traditional Chinese music, entertainment, games, and food!

The participants filled out a post learning survey. A commuter student said “The faculty taught us many valuable things about China, but even more importantly, I learned a lot about being a better person. Her discussion on China will be fresh in my memory for a long time to come.” Ninety-five percent of the students said that the seminar was extremely helpful. The post learning survey showed the guest speaker got the students eager to learn more about China.

Middle Eastern Students Festival

The White College RCC sponsored a program titled Middle Eastern Students Festival on Wednesday, February 16th, at 7:00 p.m. in the TV Lounge of White College. Ninety-five faculty, students, commuters, and alumni attended and learned different worldviews.
