The McNair Program provides the following services:

  • A $2800 stipend for faculty-mentored undergraduate research, scholarly or creative project
  • Scholarship money as an undergraduate based on need
  • Assistance in securing financial aid for graduate school
  • Free preparation class for the Graduate Record Examination (GRE)
  • Free academic tutoring
  • Fee Waivers for many graduate school applications
  • Expense Paid Travel Opportunities to attend professional conferences and visit graduate programs
  • Monthly activities that prepare Scholars for graduate school on topics such as writing a research proposal and time management skills, or cultural events
  • Monthly meetings with the Program Staff to ensure personal and academic success at MSU
