Parents Program

Saturday, August 15

3:30 P.M. – 4 P.M. Farewell to Parents

(Residential Colleges) Parents, it’s time to say goodbye to your new college students. You don't have to go home, but you can’t stay with them. While your son/daughter dives into the Great Beginnings activities we have planned, you are invited to sit in on information sessions just for parents.

3:30 P.M. MPAC General Body Meeting I

(Office of Multicultural Affairs, Curris Center) The Office of Multicultural Affairs will be hosting a Multicultural Parents Advisory Council (MPAC) General Body Meeting. MPAC serves as a forum to exchange ideas and experiences related to the success of multicultural students and Murray State University (MSU). The Council also serves as a support group for parents and students. MPAC supports other Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) endeavors throughout the year. For more information or to join MPAC, contact us at 270-809-6836 or via email at

4 P.M. – 5 P.M. What to do Next… A Parent’s Guide to Life After Move-in

(Barkley Room, Curris Center) This “parents only” information session will provide parents of new college students with tips and tricks for keeping your students on track without limiting their independence.

5 P.M. – 6 P.M. Parent and Family Reception

(Curris Center Ballroom) We will have special guests Dr. Bob Davies, MSU’s 13th President along with Dr. Robertson, Vice President of Student Affairs, as well as appetizers and beverages for you to enjoy!
