The Center for Reservoir Research (CRR) was established in 1987 by
the Kentucky Council on Higher Education as a Center of Excellence for
Teaching and Research. The mission of the Center is to provide the infrastructure
for education, research, and long-term studies of reservoir ecosystems. CRR sponsors
three common research facilities, a long-term monitoring program on Kentucky Lake, support of undergraduate and graduate assistantships (MS and Ph.D.), postdoctoral research associates, and visiting scientists. The three research facilities which comprise the support base for the Center research and educational activities are the Chemical Services Laboratory (CAL), the Hancock Biological Station (HBS), and the Mid-America Remote Sensing Center (MARC). Each facility functions in response to individual or team needs in conducting components of the CRR program and serves as aneducational center for graduate and undergraduate studies in water and associated terrestrial sciences.
