Melanie McCallon has worked with MSU study abroad since 2001, a
career built from military parents who traveled Europe on motorcycles and
bragged about it, leading naturally to an undergraduate study abroad in
England and semester teaching in Japan. Melanie has
directed and assisted on study abroad programs in Belize, Costa Rica,
England, Ireland, and South Korea and led multiple workshops and sessions at
CIEE and NAFSA, is a member of NAFSA Trainer Corps, sits as Chair-Elect of
the Kentucky Council on Education Abroad, represents MSU on the Boards of
CCSA and KIIS, has consulted on faculty-led program development within the
Appalachian College Association, and co-authored Faculty-Led 360: Guide to
Successful Study Abroad (Agapy Press 2010). This text, along with Melanie's extensive work with faculty at MSU toward program development and faculty training has led to wide expansion of faculty-led programs at MSU, which received recognition in The Chronicle of Higher Education "Innovators in Internationalization" series in February 2010. In her spare time Melanie enjoys teaching with the
Commonwealth Honors Academy and the MSU Department of English and Philosophy,
putting her undergraduate BA in Creative Writing and MA TESOL to use.

Steven joined the Education Abroad Office in November
2012. He received his B.A. in Communications from the University of
Wisconsin Milwaukee in 2009 and his M.S. in Human Development & Leadership
(International Education Administration and College Student Personnel) from
Murray State in 2011. Steven studied abroad in South Korea on MSU Discover Korea in summer 2010, but his passion for travel and cultures
started at a much earlier age. Having family from Russia, hosting an
exchange student from Iceland, and developing friendships with exchange
students while in high school and college are all contributing factors to his desire to work in the field of international education. After his first
experience abroad in eighth grade to Panama, he has since traveled to
10 other countries. When Steven is not at work or traveling the world he is running. He has completed three full marathons and hopes to one day participate
in races internationally.
