Application and Deadlines

Apply on our online system, Horizons, any time day or night without the restriction of office hours and save planet earth as we go paperless. Thanks for your patience.
Please take a look around Horizons to familiarize yourself with what programs we are offering. If you have any questions, contact the study abroad office at msu.studyabroad@murraystate.edu or by phone at (270) 809-2277. When you have decided which program you are interested in, register on Horizons and click “Apply.” You will only need to register and apply once per program. The scholarship application is also on the Horizons system, and you will have access to it once you have completed the application for your program.

After you have completed the online study abroad application through Horizons, you'll be notified via email of your acceptance to the program and the next steps of the application to be completed. After acceptance, you will have several weeks to compile the list above. Items turned in after the Post-Acceptance deadline will incur a $10 per day late fee which will be applied to your MSU account.
Please remember that MSU application approval may not indicate approval with your third-party provider (CCSA, KIIS, GlobaLinks, CEA, Lorenzo de Medici).

Scholarships and Withdrawal Deadlines
The Scholarship Application can be completed on the Horizons system after your program application is complete. Click this link for more information on scholarship availability and eligibility requirements.
The Withdrawal Deadline gives participants the opportunity to withdraw the study abroad application before any money has been spent by Murray State to reserve airline tickets, accommodations, and other necessary logistics. If a participant knows they will not be able to participate in the program for any reason (financial, academic, personal, etc.) they should withdraw by the withdrawal deadline in order to avoid incurring any charges to their MSU account. Post-Acceptance Deadlines
The Post-Acceptance Deadline is the date by which the final step of the Horizons application must be completed, including (but not limited to) uploading a photo, copy of your passport, flight itinerary, emergency medical information, and insurance card. Any late items not on Horizons by this date will incur a $10 per day late fee which will be applied to the student’s MSU account.

Orientation
There is a mandatory* pre-departure orientation for all study abroad programs. The date of your mandatory orientation corresponds to the term you are studying abroad. See below for dates, locations, and times. Parents and loved ones are encouraged to attend orientation with their student participants.

*An exemption to attend the all-program session of orientation may be requested IF you have attended a study abroad orientation or participated in study abroad within the last 24 months. You MUST complete an Orientation Exemption Request to be excused from the mandatory session All students who are excused from the all program orientation will still be required to attend the program-specific orientation session. If you do not attend the mandatory orientation, you will not be permitted to participate in any study abroad program.
