Announcements / Events

  • MSU continues to abide by FERPA privacy regulations. If not yet completed, all students must complete the Consent to Release Student Information online form (found in your myGate portal under the Academics tab).  This allows many offices to discuss specific data with the student or any other individual.
  • March 15-Beginning awards for scholarships
  • March 18-Beginning awards for incoming freshmen for federal aid
  • Summer 2013 Financial Aid Application is available
  • May 1-Deadline for accepting scholarships
  • June 1-Deadline for accepting scholarships for non-traditional students

    • Grants are forms of funding that does not have to be paid back (unless student becomes ineligible).  For more information, visit Student Aid on the Web.

      Federal Grants

      • Federal Pell Grant

        The Federal Pell Grant program gives grants of $555 to $5,645 to eligible undergraduates.
      • Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG)

        The Federal Supplement Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) program gives grants of up to $500 per year.
      • Federal TEACH Grant

        The TEACH Grant Program provides up to $4,000 a year in grant assistance to undergraduate, post-baccalaureate, and graduate students who agree to serve for at least four years as full-time "highly qualified" teachers in high-need fields in public or not-for-profit private elementary or secondary schools that serve students from low-income families.

        Student Eligibility Requirements:

        • GPA of at least 3.25
        • ACT or SAT Equivalent of 21
        • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), although you do not have to demonstrate financial need
        • Complete TECH Grant entrance counseling
        • Sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve with the Federal Department of Education
        • Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen
        • TEACH Grant for Murray State students will only be awarded to Junior and above students

        Be accepted in the Teacher Education Program (TEP) in the following high need areas:

        • Mathematics
        • Science
        • Foreign Language
        • Bilingual Education
        • English Language Acquisition
        • Special Education
        • Reading Specialist

         

        Once you have left the school, change your major, or withdraw, you must complete TEACH Grant exit counseling.

      State Grants

      • College Access Program Grant (CAP)

        The Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority gives grants (CAP) of up to $1900 per year, for a maximum of eight semesters, to eligible undergraduate Kentucky residents.  For more information, please visit KHEAA.

      Institutional Grants

      • Racer Advantage Grant (RAD)

        The Racer Advantage Grant is an institutional grant that you may use to help cover direct University expenses.
      • Murray Legacy Tuition Grant

        We know our alumni have strong feelings, believe in their education and want their children and grandchildren to follow in their footsteps. With our Murray Legacy Tuition Grant, your alma mater is giving you the chance to carry on the Murray tradition.

        The Murray Legacy Tuition Grant provides out-of-state undergraduate children and grandchildren of Murray State graduates with the difference between out-of-state and instate tuition rates.
