Workstudy

Workstudy is a part-time work program to earn money while you are in school. The pay is at least minimum wage. Your earnings will never pay automatically toward your student account. You will receive a paycheck for hours worked either direct deposited or mailed to you in a check.  All Federal and University student employees are paid bi-weekly and Graduate Assistants are paid monthly. On-campus employment through any of these programs is not guaranteed.

All student employees are required to perform their duties in a satisfactory manner.  They are to follow their work schedule diligently and they should be prompt and regular in attendance.  Departments arrange the job to accommodate students' class schedule.

Visit the Career Services website to look for contact information and job openings.

      Financial Aid-Student Employment (Workstudy)

      • Federal Workstudy Program

The Federal Workstudy Program (FWSP) offers on-campus employment to eligible students who meet a federal needs test as determined from the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). You must be enrolled for a minimum of 6 hours per semester to engage in federal workstudy.  The amount of hours you are allowed to work each week is determined by your eligibility on your FAFSA.   You are encouraged to seek employment in community services, service to students with disabilities, and in activities in which they serve as mentors.

To apply for a job in this program, you must complete a FWSP Application once you accept your FWSP award on your myGate account.  The application will show up as a red flag and is to be completed every academic year.  Departments look at those application to find prospective student employees.  The department will contact you if they are wanting you to work for them.  Also, you may check the Career Services Website for student employment opportunities listed for each department.

      • University Workstudy Program

The University Workstudy Program offers jobs to students who are enrolled at least half time and who normally do not qualify for the Federal Work-Study Program. On-campus employment through either program is not guaranteed. The amount of hours eligible to work is determined by the hiring department.  You may check the Career Services Website for student employment opportunities listed for each department.
      • Graduate Assistantship Program

The Graduate Assistantship Program offers work to qualified graduate students.  Contact the department head in your graduate field for more information.
