Belize International Teaching Experience

Belize is a small nation on the eastern coast of Central America, on the Caribbean Sea bordered by Mexico to the northwest and Guatemala to the west and south. The only English-speaking country in Central America, Belize was a British colony for more than a century and was known as British Honduras until 1973. It became an independent nation in 1981 and its population is multicultural, with an ethnic mix of Creole, Mestizo, Maya, Garifuna, Eastern Indian, chinese, and European. Belize is an adventurer’s paradise where Mayan temples tower above rainforest canopies while an incredibly colorful array of marine wildlife find protection in Belize’s Great Barrier Reef. Corozal is the northernmost district of Belize, located approximately 20 miles south of the Mexican border. Corozal town is a quiet, peaceful place located near the sea.
