Murray State students, faculty, staff and community members are welcome to use this facility for educational and recreational purposes as provided for in the facility policies and procedures.

  • A valid picture I.D. is required to check out equipment room items.
  • No one under the age of 18 will be permitted with out adult supervision. You may be required to show picture I.D. and proof of age.

The Carr Health Building serves many purposes including: Classroom and teaching space for courses taught in the Department of Community Leadership and Human Services. Recreational use space for students, faculty, staff and community members. Space that can be reserved by students, faculty, staff and community members for university, community, and/or privately sponsored events and programs.

History of the Building
The building is named in honor of the first president of the university, Dr. John W. Carr. Carr Health was constructed in 1937 and received renovations in 1975 and 2000. Erected at a cost of $240,000, it originally housed a boxing ring among other recreational space. Today, the building maintains two gymnasiums, a dance studio, two activity spaces, and multiple classrooms.
