Note: Certification requires a grade of B or better in one English composition course and a C or better in a University Studies math course, public speaking, and EDU 103 or equivalent course. Additional requirements for admission to teacher education and student teaching must be met. See your advisor and/or the Office of Teacher Education Services for details.

ENG 334 Shakespeare

 

   and one of the following:

 

ENG 309 History of the English Language

 

ENG 310 Introduction to English Linguistics

ENG 228 Standard English Usage

 

ENG 329 Teaching English in Middle/Secondary Schools

 

ENG 435 Teaching Literature in Secondary Schools

 

ENG 445 Teaching Writing in Secondary Schools

two 300-500 level ENG courses, both of which must be in literature, at least one covering writings prior to 1800.
