Our Mission

The mission of the Department of Psychology at Murray State University is to further the understanding of the discipline of psychology through teaching, research and service. We are committed to providing the very best in undergraduate and graduate instruction both inside and outside the formal classroom so that students may acquire an understanding of behavior and its underlying processes as well as develop their writing, research and analytical skills for use in a wide variety of careers. We are also committed to advancing the scientific understanding of psychology through research and to serving the university, community and profession through involvement in a variety of activities. The Psychology Department further strives to serve students and the community through its Psychological Center, which provides clinical services to students, faculty, staff and community members and functions as a training center for graduate students in the Clinical Psychology master’s degree program.
