Welcome from Dean
Welcome to the exploration of the School of Nursing at Murray State University. The nursing program at Murray State University has a long history of excellence in nursing education. We admitted our first BSN class in 1964 after having multiple classes of nursing students who completed their first year at Murray and went on to either Owensboro or Hopkinsville to complete a diploma in nursing. Since that time we have added a Master's program and in the Fall of 2012 a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) for our family nurse practitioner students. Our future goal is to transition the Master's nurse anesthesia program to the DNP. To find out more about our graduate program, you can contact Dr. Dina Byers. Our RN-BSN program is now offered completely on-line and I invite registered nurses to compare our offerings and cost to other programs. Our RN-BSN coordinator is Dr. Linda Thomas who has a strong educational background in associate degree education and will be able to help you plan your course of study. The BSN program is producing graduates who are ready for professional practice as well as graduate school and enjoys a 100% employment rate. Employers give us continual informal feedback that a Murray State graduate is a welcome addition to their staff. If you have further questions after reviewing our information, please don't hesitate to contact us.
