Students must
take the respective Clinical Experience class to qualify for the Clinical
Placement assigned for each Clinical Experience class. Students must successfully
pass each previous Clinical Experience class and its Co-requisite class,
admitted to the Athletic Training Education Program and have a cumulative
GPA of 2.0 (4.0 scale).
Students are selected by the Murray State University ACI’s to determine
which Clinical Placement would be most beneficial to the Athletic Training
Student, the Clinical Instructors, and the Athletic Training Education
Program. The Clinical Coordinator and the Program Director finalize the
clinical placements for each student.
Instruction and Evaluation of Clinical Proficiencies and Competencies:
Instruction of the Clinical Proficiencies and Competencies is performed
in either the formal classroom setting (lecture, discussion, videos, labs),
Clinical Experience Lab, or during the Clinical Experience classes. Evaluation
of each Clinical Proficiency and Competency is performed during the Clinical
Experience classes by a peer evaluator and then an ACI. If the Clinical
Proficiency and/or Competency is not performed correctly, the student
can try to perform the skill again the next day. All Clinical Proficiencies
and Competencies are split into the 5 Clinical Experience classes.
