Olympic National Park: Olympic National Park is an incredibly diverse national park located on the Olympic Peninsula in northwestern Washington State. Known for its old-growth temperate rainforests, it is also graced with subalpine meadows and lake basins, glacier-covered mountain peaks, and one of the largest remaining portions of wild coastline in the contiguous United States. In 1988, 95% of the park was designated as the Olympic Wilderness, “to secure for the American people of present and future generations the benefits of an enduring resource of wilderness.” The Olympic National Park has a Wilderness Resources Volunteer Internship opportunity available. The Wilderness Resources program internship requires a minimum commitment of four months (June 12 – October 15). There is an abundance of work to complete during this short window so dates of availability, especially in the fall months, are a key screening criterion. If you are interested in a volunteer intern position, write or email requesting an application form from: Ruth Scott, Olympia National Park, 600 East Park Avenue, Port Angeles, WA 98362; Email: ruth_scott@nps.gov.
