However, we understand that paying for college is an important factor in selecting a college and obtaining your degree. After estimating your cost of attendance, you may be considering one of many financial aid resources including but not limited to grants, work-study, student loans, scholarships, military benefits, and employer tuition assistance/reimbursement programs.
Grants, work-study, and loans
Financial assistance may be available to you in terms of state/federal grants, work-study, or student loans (Perkins or Stafford). These require you to submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) along with a university financial aid application.

Scholarships
Transfer Scholarship
If you're a first-time transfer, you may be eligible for our new transfer scholarship. You must have a 3.25 transferable GPA, 48 or more transferable hours and plan to enter Murray State during the fall semester.
Murray State University offers a variety of other competitive scholarships to all students. In order to be considered for these academic scholarships, you must have applied for admission to the University prior to the scholarship deadline of January 15. There are also adult/non-traditional scholarships that have a deadline of June 1.

Military and veteran benefits
Veteran Affairs is a department of Student Affairs located in Ordway Hall. Veteran Affairs assists veteran students with the transition from military to civilian/university life. Veteran Affairs educational assistance is available under six different programs, which include active duty and National Guard/Selected Reserve status.
Dependents or spouses of deceased and/or 100-percent disabled veterans may be eligible for benefits. A tuition waiver may also be available for dependents or spouses of deceased and/or 100-percent disabled Kentucky veterans through the Kentucky Veterans Affairs Center.

Some employers may offer tuition assistance or reimbursement programs as a part of your employee benefits. If you are not sure if your employer offers such benefits, contact your Human Resources office or benefits personnel.
