Our Mission
The fundamental mission of the School of Agriculture at MSU is to meet the
needs of its students by
providing educational experiences in the field of agriculture necessary to develop
their potential for
premier leadership, personal growth and career success. Based upon student needs,
our mission focuses
on offering a broad undergraduate and graduate curriculum consisting of areas,
options and courses in
agricultural science, agronomy, agribusiness economics, agricultural education,
agricultural mechanization,
horticulture, animal science, animal health technology, equine science and pre-veterinary
medicine.
The school also recognizes its important mission to enhance the agricultural,
educational, economical, and
cultural opportunities for the people of this service region. In meeting this
mission, the school pursues the following goals and objectives:
-To emphasize a primary commitment to students through quality teaching from
well prepare
technologically proficient, professional faculty.
-To provide "hands-on" agricultural experience through classroom,
experimental and farm
laboratory instruction.
- To develop, maintain and improve technologically current farm and programmatic
laboratories
which support the educational objectives of the department.
- To provide public and university service to support the educational and technical
needs of
agricultural students and the agricultural industry of the service region.
- To perform practical research and/or remain technologically proficient through
involvement in research oriented activities.
