Classes offered as part of the emphasis include:

ART 341 Fundamentals of Elementary School Art
Survey of the profession of art education at the elementary school level.
Provides students with a combination of clinical and field experiences.
Laboratory and lecture experiences in elementary school art materials and
teaching methods including philosophies and objectives in contemporary use and
observations. This course is designed for the art major, the classroom teacher,
and the administrator. Prerequisite: EDU 103. Six hours per week. Cannot be
used as a general education credit.

ART 342 Fundamentals of Secondary School Art
Survey of the profession of art education at the junior and senior high school
levels. Provides students with a combination of clinical and field experiences.
A course similar to ART 341 with emphasis upon teaching of art on the junior
and senior high school levels and the supervision of art programs. Organization
of the course includes lectures, discussions, individual and group research,
observation and laboratory problems. Prerequisite: ART 341. Six hours per week.
Cannot be used as a general education credit

ART 343 Art Materials and Techniques for the Classroom Teacher
A studio course designed to provide prospective teachers with the necessary
art-making skills in a variety of media and techniques. Class sessions will
include demonstrations and experimentation leading to decision-making,
manipulation of materials and techniques, and critical assessment of finished
work. Six hours per week. Not for art majors. ART 343 does not apply to studio
minor.
