Students receive academic preparation that allows them to choose careers in law, government, business, international organizations, journalism, campaigns, polling and teaching.

History
One of our growth areas is in public history, museum work, state and local government revitalization projects and historic preservation. History degrees are highly valued as pre-law degrees, for industry, government and political positions.

Liberal Arts Major

Taking combinations of classes from across the university in the humanities, social sciences, fine arts, mathematics, and natural sciences prepares a student to enter a broad variety of fields.

Modern Languages
Knowing a second language lends itself well to preparation in many fields of study...from diplomacy, to government work, industry and business, education, TESOL programs, social services, law, medicine and education.

Music
A degree in music is the perfect entry into the music business, including technical aspects of music-recording, digitizing and mixing music, symphonies or band, music promotions, musical contractual law, and music copyright law.

Psychology
Graduates receive training in psychology that enable them to work in a variety of settings, community mental health centers, hospitals, prisons, comprehensive care centers, school counseling, industrial psychology, jury selection, profiling for law enforcement bureaus. There is also the clinical route.

Sociology
This discipline covers a broad range of topics such as family and deviant behavior, group thought in sports and industry, race relations, and demographic issues. Sociologists work in industry and corporations, human resources, marketing, social and family services, youth agencies, counseling, correction facilities and education. Sociology is another excellent pre-law field.

Theater and Dance
Graduates work in the entertainment business either in front of the camera or behind the scenes, in historic reenactment, in stage design, and in sound and lighting design for businesses and music groups.
