Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass

Category I. Violin/Viola Solo, High School (Grades 9 through 12)

Category II. Violin/Viola Solo, Middle School/Junior High (Grades 6 through 8)

Category III. Violin/Viola Solo, Pre-K through Grade 5

Category IV. Cello/Double Bass Solo, High School (Grades 9 through 12)

Category V. Cello/Double Bass Solo, Middle School/Junior High (Grades 6 through 8)

Category VI. Cello/Double Bass Solo, Pre-K through Grade 5

Each contestant will perform two works of contrasting styles, not to exceed a total of 10 minutes. Individual movements of larger works will be accepted.

All contestants will receive a certificate of participation.

Category I and IV: First place $200, Second place $150, Third place $100

Category II and V: First place $150, Second place $100, Third place $50

Category III and VI: First place $100, Second place $75

Graduating seniors who plan to attend Murray State University as music majors are eligible for scholarships.

A non-refundable fee of $15 for each entrant must accompany the application. Please make checks payable to MSU String Competition.

Completed applications with entry fee must be received by March 22, 2008. Confirmation of receipt of application will be sent to the email address on the application. Please contact Dr. Park if you do not receive a confirmation by April 1^st.
