Founded in 1926, Sock and Buskin is the oldest student organization on the
campus of Murray State University. Until the early 1960's Sock and Buskin was
the sole producing organization for theatre at Murray. With the completion of
the Doyle Fine Arts Center and the establishment of an on-going producing
program within the curricular framework of the Drama Department - now the
Department of Theatre - Sock and Buskin's mission evolved into what it
is today, a strong support system for the MSU Theatre.
Further purposes of Sock and Buskin are:
to develop and encourage loyalty to the Alma Mater
to aid and assist in Department of Theatre productions
to develop an appreciation for theatre in the MSU community
Sock and Buskin members can be found on the stage, in the booth, behind the
scenes and in the box office for any production, whether it's in the Johnson
Theatre, the Studio Theatre or Lovett Auditorium!
