Student Scholarship Support

Honors College

The Murray State University Honors College, originally established in 1986 as an expansion of the Presidential Scholars Program and known then as the Honors Program, offers highly motivated, achievement-oriented students with the challenges and opportunities in their educational experiences beyond those typically offered. The original Honors Program transitioned to the Honors College in the fall of 2015 and in that time has grown from 60 students to 500. These students are enthusiastic about their education, dedicated to achieving, and are eager to learn.

In recent years, to keep up with the Honors College’s exponential growth, course offerings for Honors seminars have doubled, ranging from Economics to Non-Profit Leadership which allows Honors students to earn an Honors Diploma or Honors Focus degree in a broad range of degree program options. Within these disciplines, over 30% of Honors students are engaged in undergraduate research.

To support these students, the Honors College has established the Honors College Scholarship with gifts from generous Honors alumni and supporters. This fund provides scholarship dollars to our students ensuring they obtain a high-quality, honors-based, education to prepare them for a career in their chosen field.

The Honors College is about more than academics. It’s about growing the whole student, personally as well as intellectually. Honors College students are engaged in a community that lives, works, and plays together within the newly inaugurated Honors Living Learning Community in new Franklin Residential College. In this ever growing community, students in the Honors College experience the unique opportunities that Murray State University provides and like these students, your gift to the Honors College Scholarship will go a long way!
