In the event of an emergency, Murray State University will notify the campus community by activating the outdoor sirens and speakers, the campus (VOIP) phone system and the School Messenger text messaging alert system.
MSU now offers emergency notifications via mobile alerts to the campus community. To complement our current notification methods like desktop phone alerts and outdoor sirens, students, faculty and staff are now able to opt-in to receive emergency alerts as text messages sent to their SMS-capable cell phones. Messages will only be sent to users in the event of an emergency situation after they opt-in and verify their mobile number. Please note that standard text messaging rates will apply. To sign up, simply visit the Home tab on myGate and look for the Mobile Alerts channel.
Murray State University is committed to protecting the safety, security, and welfare of its Main Campus, Farm System, and community members. The Emergency Operations Plan (EOP), was developed to provide MSU a means to mitigate, prepare for, respond to, and recover from emergencies.
