Quisenberry
to Referee Olympic Soccer in Beijing
Kermit Quisenberry,
1993 and 1995 Murray State University alumnus, has been selected
to officiate men’s soccer at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Quisenberry
is one of six FIFA (International Federation of Association
Football) soccer referees from the United States officiating
in the 2008 Olympic Games. MORE

Alumnus Jesse D. Jones Establishes Two Awards in the College
of Science, Engineering & Technology
Jesse
D. Jones, 1964 Murray State alumnus of Baton Rouge, La., recently
created and endowed the Dr. Neil V. Weber Award for
Excellence , recognizing the accomplishments of former
dean of the College of Science, Engineering & Technology
(CSET), Dr. Neil Weber (far right), who retired in December
of 2007. This $2,500 annual award will be given to an administrator
or faculty member in the CSET who displays outstanding service
and contributions to the university through academic research
grants and development; classroom activities; student recruitment;
governmental relations; publications; and/or assistance with
matters of accreditation. The first recipient of this distinguished
award is Dr. Tom Kind (center), Chairman of the MSU Department
of Geoscience. Dr. Bob Pervine (left), has served as Interim
Dean of the CSET since Dr. Weber’s retirement.

Jones
also established and endowed the Dr. Karl F. Hussung
Outstanding Professor in Chemistry Award in honor
of his former professor. This $1,000 annual award will be given
to a member of the MSU Department of Chemistry who displays
teaching excellence and exceptional service to the university.
Professional activity and research may also be considered when
choosing a recipient. Pictured (from left) is Dr. Judy Ratliff,

former MSU Professor of Chemistry, Dr. Ricky Cox, MSU professor
of Chemistry and the first recipient of this award, and Dr.
