One
of Sigma Alpha Iot's Philanthropies is the People-to People Project.
People-to-People projects provide material assistance and encouragement
to schools, music organizations and musicians. The project is
world-wide, from helping underprivileged band programs in neighboring
towns to bringing music to developing countries in parts of the
world where small things can make a big difference.
This
year, the sisters of Sigma Alpha Iota have chosen to support the
People-to People Project for the All Campus Sing tie-breaker by
hosting an Instrument Drive.
- Each
participating organization will be provided with a "drum"
to collect money and/or instruments.
- Everything
that goes in the container will be assigned a point value.
- Each
group will have until 4:00 p.m. on April 16th
to collect money and instruments. At this time, the drive will
end and points will be totaled!
- There
are many sources of instrument available to your organization.
You might be surprised at how many friends or relatives might
be willing to donate old instruments to a good cause. Pawn shops,
flea markets, and second-hand stores are also awesome sources.
You might also try eBay, which can provide good instruments
for inexpensive prices.
- All
donations made to the People-to-People Project are tax
deductible. Please ask about donation forms.
- Point
values will be assigned according to the attached table. You
might note that it is much more economical to donate instruments
rather than cash.
- Instrument
point values are subjective. You will not be assigned any fewer
points than the numerical value on the table. However, if your
instrument is particularly nice or expensive, you can expect
to receive more points.
- You
will notice a place on the judging sheet marked "bonus".
In each category, the three groups that have the most points
will receive a bonus. Three points will be awarded for first
place, two for second place, and one for third place.
