Members of the Golden Anniversary Class of 1954 were honored at May Commencement ceremonies at the Regional Special Events Center.

Thirty-six graduates of the Class of 1954, including Dr. Rob Ferguson, Oak Ridge, Tenn., Sylvia Clark Puckett, Murray, Jerry Wilson, Lexington, Ky., Dr. Milton Arter, Hampstead, N.C., Joe Noffsinger, Lawrenceburg, Ky., and Billy Puckett, Murray, returned to campus May 7 to participate in Alumni Reunion Weekend festivities.

       

Wendell Rorie ’53, of Hopkinsville , Ky. , visited with 1954 classmates Jerry Brown, New Orleans , and Mary McCord Stricklin, Monroe , La.

           

1954 graduates Bob Nifong, Palmyra , Ill , and Lacy Joiner Jr., Herndon , Ky. , renew their friendship at the Alumni Center .

            

The Class of 1954 reunion was attended by alumni from nine states, including graduate Bob Burnett and his wife, Mary, of Lexington , Ky.

             

Regena Wallace Baggett ’54, Nashville , Tenn. , Charlotte Roberts Parker ’54, Murray , Betty Thurman Stewart ’55, Murray , and Martha Sawyer Duncan ’54, Tuscaloosa , Ala. , visit at the Alumni Center .

King Alexander, left, Charlotte Roberts Parker, Murray, receives potted ivy from Jim Carter, executive director of the MSU Alumni Association, during a luncheon honoring the Class of 1954. The ivy, cultivated from cuttings taken at Pogue Library, was provided by the MSU Horticulture Club and its adviser, Dr. Pat Williams.

Dr. Rob Ferguson ’54, a retired nuclear research scientist, and his wife, Susie, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., talk with 2004 Distinguished Alumnus recipient Rex Geveden ’83 ’84 and his wife, Gail, of Madison, Ala. Geveden is deputy director of NASA’s Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Ala.
