1. ASSISTANT/ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (Criminal Justice), Department of Social Work, Criminal Justice, and Gerontology. Full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2010. Murray State University has been consistently and nationally ranked in the top ten among public masters'/comprehensive universities. Qualifications: The successful candidate must possess a doctorate in criminal justice or a closely related field with at least 18 hours of graduate education in criminal justice courses. ABDs will be considered at the assistant level only if the doctorate will be completed by the date of appointment. ABDs with a documented plan to complete the doctoral dissertation by August 2011 will be considered for appointment as an instructor at a non-tenure level. A JD degree alone is not sufficient for this position. Applicant must be a generalist and able to teach a variety of courses. 2. RE-ADVERTISEMENT: ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, Department of Wellness and Therapeutic Sciences. Full-time, tenure-track, nine-month position to begin August 2010. Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Exercise Science preferred, ABD with documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered. ACSM and NSCA or related certifications preferred. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to high-quality classroom instruction. A commitment to research, service and community outreach is preferred. Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate courses in degree programs in areas of athletic training, wellness, pre-physical therapy, and pre-occupational therapy with preferred strengths in biomechanics, statistics & research methods, exercise prescription in special populations, and wellness programming. 3. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, Educational Studies, Leadership & Counseling, College of Education. Full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2010. Qualifications: Doctorate in Counselor Education from a CACREP accredited program or in a closely related field with knowledge of CACREP standards required. ABDs with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered. Generalist with broad experience in counseling, graduate level teaching in counselor education, and counselor supervision required. Experience working with addiction, children, and/or marriage and family issues preferred. Must be qualified to meet Kentucky licensure requirements for Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC). Must be willing and able to travel. Responsibilities: Teach core counseling courses and supervise practicum and internship students at school and community mental health agency sites. Advise and teach students on campus and at off campus sites, and be able to effectively manage distance learning courses. Engage in scholarly activities consistent with requirements of the College of Education in university service and research and collaborate with local school districts and community agencies. Must have distinguished record of publication in creative nonfiction and fiction. Evidence of excellence in teaching required. Qualifications: Master's degree with a minimum of three years accompanying experience required. Doctorate in accompanying or collaborative artistry preferred. Demonstrated competency in sight-reading, technical and interpretive skills, and class piano instruction required. Responsibilities: Accompanying faculty, guest artists, festival performances, student recitals and ensembles; teaching areas will include courses in class piano and accompanying, and may include other areas as needed by the department. 9. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Physical Geographer), Department of Geosciences. Full-time, tenure-track position to begin August 2010. Qualifications: Ph.D. required. Must demonstrate research potential in Physical Geography as evidenced by publication or other scholarly activity. Experience with remote sensing and/or GIS methodologies required. 10. ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Photography), Department of Art & Design. Tenure-track position to begin August 2010. Qualifications: MFA in Photography required. MFA candidates with a documented plan of completion by appointment date will be considered. Evidence of a strong regional and emerging national exhibition record, active professional achievement, ability to teach beginning and advanced courses in photography, and knowledge of traditional, digital, and alternative photography technologies is required. Must have experience in developing curriculum that is inclusive of both technical and critical issues. Must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must have a strong knowledge of safety practices in photography. Successful college/university teaching experience and knowledge of electronic imaging, video, and graphic design methods is preferred. Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include teaching two courses in photography, one electronic imaging or graphic design course or another departmental offering; responsible for the photography program and maintaining photography studio facilities and equipment; responsible for the continuation of the development of a strong well-rounded undergraduate digital and traditional photography program.
