Anthem will issue new ID cards for all MSU medical plan participants for the 2011 plan year. Please do not use your old card after Dec. 31, 2010. Also, as a result of changes in their call centers and the bank of toll free numbers utilized, Anthem's new customer service phone numbers for all plans (Enhanced, Standard, and the High Deductible plan) is shown below and will be listed on the new cards:

Health Savings Accounts (HSA's) are generally not available for employees to use for their adult children. HSA disbursements for a dependent are tax-free only if the dependent meets the definition of a “tax dependent” (which is narrower than the definition of dependent set forth in the 2010 health care reform law). Unfortunately, the health care reform law did not amend the definition of dependent for health savings account expenses. For details, see page 7 of the 2011 Benefits Guide or:

Flexible spending account participants are now able to receive reimbursement for Medical Care Flexible Spending and Dependent Care Flexible Spending by Direct Deposit. This feature is currently available by selecting the Direct Deposit option when logging on to the WageWorks web site:

Please be sure to use the I-9 form that states “Expires 08/31/12” in the top right corner. HR has recently received versions dated as long ago as 1995. After hiring temporary employees, department heads should follow instructions for on-boarding (signing payroll-related documents and learning about policies and other employment-related matters) by clicking on this link:
