Clarification on Pay Changes
The hourly staff compensation study focused on staff who are paid lower than the market value of their job. No one, including persons paid above the market value of their job, will receive a decrease in pay as a result of the hourly staff compensation study.  In addition, staff members who, as a result of this study, move to a pay grade with lower minimums and lower maximums will not receive a pay decrease.

Inappropriate Questions in Interviews
If you are unsure about what questions are inappropriate to ask job candidates, HR’s website has a guide that might help: “Pre-Employment Inquiries:  A Guide to What You Can and Cannot Ask” (Available here: Pre-Employment Inquiries.pdf).  Please keep in mind that candidates should not be asked inappropriate questions at any time, which include during meals and in “off the record” moments.  More than 1,000 interviews will occur at MSU during the next 12 months.  Please help to achieve a 100% success rate in asking only appropriate questions.
