Overview
Tampere University of Technology
Tampere University of Technology (TUT), Finland’s most international university, is located in the suburb of Hervanta, outside of the city of Tampere, Finland. Tampere itself is the largest inland city in Scandinavia, set on a narrow strip of land between two lakes and surrounded by forested areas. Established in 1965, TUT has grown to become a significant influence on technology in Finland and abroad, playing a pivotal role as an advocate of business life and internationalization. A city of roughly 200,000 inhabitants, Tampere offers students a plethora of activities to take part in, including markets, museums, the arts, cultural events, sailing, parasailing, skiing, snowmobiles, ice hockey and much more.
Haaga-Helia University
Haaga-Helia University of Applied Sciences has campus locations in Helsinki, Porvoo and Vierumäki, Finland and provides students with excellent access to the entire northern Europe area. A pioneer among Finnish business polytechnics, Helia was founded in 1992 as part of a general restructuring of Finnish higher education and recently saw another change in its structure, resulting in the renaming of the university to Haaga-Helia. It remains the largest Finnish polytechnic, formed from several pre-existing institutions of higher learning, including the Finnish Business College, which is over 100 years old. An institution of 10,000 students, Haaga-Helia focuses on business and services, communication and information management, information and communication technologies, and wellness combining health and sports as well as teacher education.
