Overview

Regensburg is a city of 130,000 people in the German state of Bavaria, about 60 miles north of Munich. The University of Regensburg, a modern, comprehensive university o18,000, is located here. The Old City is situated on the Danube River, which flows under Regensburg's 12th-century stone bridge on its way through Vienna and Budapest to the Black Sea.

A living cross-section of German history, the city boasts walls constructed by the Romans in 179 AD, a wonderful 13th-century Gothic cathedral, the palace of the current Princess of Thurn and Taxis, and a host of achitectural treasures scattered throughout its ancient narrow streets.

Cafes, pastry shops and beer gardens offer delightful meeting places for students throughout the year. You will also enjoy numerous art and history museums, several theatres and cinemas, beautiful churches, a full range of sports activities, and live performances for music lovers of all tastes. Bicycle trails on the Danube, boat excursions up and down the river, and the delightful Christmas Market and Advent concerts in December round out a rich variety of cultural experiences.
