Two chosen for internships
Two staff members of The Murray State News have been chosen for the Kentucky Press Association summer internships. They are Megan Locke and Jason Morrow.
Locke, who completed her requirements for a degree in journalism with a minor in English in May, has a 3.96 grade-point average. She was selected for this year's "Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities."
A staff writer for The News and The Shield yearbook, she will be interning with the Madisonville Messenger. Last summer she had a KPA internship with the Dawson Springs Progress.
She has served as secretary and treasurer of Alpha Delta Chi Christian social sorority, vice president of College Democrats and is a member of Gamma Beta Phi, National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Murray Christian Fellowship, Omicron Delta Kappa and Kappa Tau Alpha.
Locke had her article on "Bird Imagery in Jane Eyre" published in the Murray State Journal of Undergraduate Research.
Morrow, a senior with a major in journalism and minor in political science, will intern with the Lexington Herald Leader.
He worked a year as a reporter before becoming the online editor for The News.
He redesigned the site and has a student staff to assist him with videos, blogs, updated stories and online features.
He has received a scholarship twice to attend the Mid-America Press Institute with emphasis in developing web sites.
