Dillon publishes article, reviews
Dr. John Dillon has published an article in the scholarly online publication, Feedback, and two book reviews in Journalism Educator, a key publication for those who teach journalism in higher education.
Dillon's article in Feedback, which is published by the Broadcast Educators Association, detailed Murray State JMC involvement in teaching Ukrainian students broadcast journalism.
"Journalism from Scratch: Development of a Mass Communications College Curriculum in Central Ukraine" describes a 2007 visit where MSU students and one faculty member helped train Ukrainian students to shoot video, write and edit news releases and deal with public relations issues.
The two book reviews were on Eyewitness Newsman and SuperMedia: Saving Journalism So It Can Save the World.
The two are recently-published books. One is an historical analysis of the "Eyewitness News" phenomenon in broadcast journalism starting in the 1970's on the East Coast of the U.S. The second one is a book demonstrating a forward perspective toward matters of how to keep journalism relevant in the 21st Century.
Dillon is also on the editorial board of SIMILE, Studies in Media Information and Literacy Education, a University of Toronto publication.
