Donate Food Items to NeedLine
Bring canned food and bottled water to 105 Carr Health Building at MSU (a storage facility for Needline). Or, if you are on campus, call 762-3808 and student volunteers will come to your office, classroom, or car pick up your canned food/bottle water donations.

Befriend a Displaced Person
Individuals and groups willing to spend time with individuals and family members, particularly playing with children and tutoring children. For more information, contact Mark or Coleen Anderson at 293-5431.

Churches
Many local churches are organizing relief services, so contact a local church or synagogue for more information on how you might help.

The Murray/Calloway County Red Cross
The Murray/Calloway County Red Cross needs volunteers to assist in the relief efforts here in Calloway County. Additionally, they are seeking volunteers for Red Cross Disaster training. To volunteer or get additional information call (270) 753-1421.

Camp WOW
Individuals or organizations who wish to assist at Camp WOW, an American Red Cross/Woodmen of the World shelter, please go to the WOW web site for up-to-date information. The web address is campwowevacuees.org. Volunteers are needed to assist with transportation, meal preparation, donations, answering telephones, and tutoring services for the children. To find out how and when you or your volunteer organization might assist, and who to contact, please check the camp's web page. You may also register to receive email updates from Camp WOW from their relief web page.

Psychological Center

The Psychological Center provides mental health services to Murray State students and community members. Therapy is always free for university students and fees are waived for any survivors of Katrina. Our clinicians are trained in general crisis intervention and particularly, in working with survivors of traumatic events. The Center is open from 8:00 to 4:30 Monday and Wednesday through Friday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesdays. Anyone interested in receiving services can either call 762-2504 for more information or just come by Wells Hall 401 during our open hours.

Helping Hand to Farmers and Cattlemen
Hurricane Katrina left downed fences, drenched pastures and damaged farm buildings in its wake. Agriculture Commissioner Richie Farmer is calling on all Kentuckians to reach out to farmers in the area ravaged by the hurricane. From September 20- October 7, the Kentucky Department of Agriculture is collecting new farm supplies and livestock feed for farmers in Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi who were affected by the hurricane. As part of the effort, the Kentucky Cattlemen’s Association will collect cash and credit card donations that will be used to buy needed supplies to supplement donated items. Local donations can be dropped off at the Murray State University Livestock and Exposition Center, 2101 College Farm Road, Murray – 8 a.m.-4 p.m. CDT Monday through Friday (after hours by appointment); Call (270) 762-3125 or (270) 762-3328 for more information.
