Home Welcome Program About Murray Faculty About GCIS
Welcome from the Director

Welcome!

Thank you for your interest in the Murray State
University graduate program in Teaching English to
Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). I am delighted
that we are offering our M.A. program in Limassol, represented by The Global Center of Independent
Studies.

Cyprus is a crossroads of peoples and cultures, much like
TESOL, which has become one of the most highly
recognized, internationally credentialed degrees in the

world. Therefore, students from throughout the world have chosen to study at Murray State, and
have gone on to careers not just in English teaching and education, but in business, industry,
government and non-governmental organizations (NGO's), in both their own countries and in the
U.S. With a degree in TESOL, one is recognized as an individual with outstanding English language
skills, a superb knowledge of teaching and learning, and a highly developed awareness of the world
and its diversity.

Our alumnae have told us that our program is successful because of its complementary focuses on
both theory and practical applications. Our faculty have worked and taught in the United States,
East Asia, The Middle East, and Central America. The TESOL program, offered through GCIS, brings
together the practical realities of Cyprus, and the most current research on pedagogy, applied
linguistics, cultural studies, and technology.

We look forward to helping you to evaluate our program. I welcome you to contact me by phone,
or by email, and also to contact Mr. Socrates Metaxas, Managing Director of the GCIS in Limassol.

Dr. Michal Morgan
Director, MSU Cyprus TESOL Program
