boys" fled southern Sudan in the 1980's to avoid
extermination or castration as decreed by the Sudanese
government. They traveled on foot for 1,000 miles for
five years enduring starvation, dehydration, disease,
wild animals and ruthless soldiers before a few thousand
survivors reached a U.N. refugee camp in Kenya, with a
few making it on to the U.S. The film was the winner of
the Grand Jury Prize and Audience Award at the Sundance
