There's no need to delay your education simply because you may be uncertain about a major. Come to Murray State as an undeclared major, and the Center for Academic Advising will assist you. The Center provides dedicated, experienced advisers to guide you as you schedule classes that put you well on your way to a degree from MSU. During your freshman year and possibly into your sophomore year you will enroll in university studies courses that are required for all Murray State graduates. While completing these essential courses you will explore your interests and decide which major is best for you.

Freshman Orientation (IDC 099)

All new full-time freshmen are required to register for an orientation class during the fall semester unless excused by the department chair (declared majors) or the Director of the Center for Academic Advising (undeclared majors). The course carries one hour of academic credit and is graded on the pass-fail system. The purpose of this orientation is to acquaint students with information concerning curricula, activities, facilities and personnel, and to assist students in making adjustments to college life.
