Dean Harrison Becomes Member of AACSB-accrediting
Team
Dean of the College of Business and Public Affairs,
Economics Professor Dannie E. Harrison, in 2001 became a member of the
Business Accreditation Committee (BAC) of AACSB-International-The Association
to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. AACSB is the premier Management
Education accrediting agency in the world.
The BAC is made up of 22 Deans of AACSB-accredited
Business Schools worldwide, and is the final authority on both initial
accreditation and reaffirmation of accreditation status. They decide which
school gets accredited or re-accredited. A sample of the other business
Deans are those at: University of Arizona, Concordia University (Canada),
Penn State, Purdue University, Georgetown University, The Chinese University
of Hong Kong (Hong Kong), University of Buffalo (State University of New
York), and DePaul University. As of April 2001, Murray State University
was one of only 345 institutions worldwide that are accredited at both
the undergraduate and graduate (MBA) levels.
Murray MBA students among the very best in
the world
In year 2001, three of Murray's MBA students
placed 6th among 400 teams worldwide who participated in the international
L'Oreal E-Strat Marketing Challenge. Stephen Denk, Bernd Kiessling and
Matthias Huettner, whose team was called the ERacers, are the three students
who participated from the Murray MBA, under the direction of marketing
Professor W. Glynn Mangold. The competition was organized by the transnational
L'Oreal of France, and involved the very best Business Schools in the world:
among them Harvard, Wharton, Northwestern, Stanford, Oxford, London Business
School, and Cambridge. This, in part, attests to the prestige and quality
of the Murray MBA, and points to our rich tradition of educational excellence.
Murray State University Introduces New MBA
Program in Henderson, Kentucky
The College of Business and Public Affairs at
Murray State University is in August 2001 introducing the Master of Business
Administration (MBA) in Henderson, Kentucky. Fashioned along the lines
of its other off-campus programs in Paducah and Hopkinsville/Ft. Campbell,
the AACSB-accredited 30-hour Murray MBA will be offered in its entirety
in Henderson, with some of the courses taught concurrently in Madisonville.
Dean of the College of Business and Public Affairs,
Dr. Dannie E. Harrison, Assistant Dean & MBA Director Dr. Gerry Nkombo.
Muuka, MBA Coordinator Mickey Johnson, and MSU Henderson representative
Mike Freels were all in Henderson Tuesday July 10, 2001 spearheading the
program, whose first classes start on August 27, 2001.
Asked what chances his College had of offering
a successful program in Henderson, Dean Harrison had the following to say:
"Not only have we had similar success
in both Paducah and Hopkinsville/Ft. Campbell, we have already had a strong
response from potential students in Henderson, Madisonville, Evansville
and Owensboro who see our flexible program-with classes in the evenings,
on weekends and over the web-as an unmistakable vehicle for advancing their
careers and professional aspirations. What is gratifying, from our meeting
today with the Henderson MBA Advisory Board, is that employers too share
the same view-that an accredited, quality MBA program is coming to the
area, whose course offerings suit the working needs and working schedules
of professionals in the area. With this level of interest, we are guaranteeing
a quality program for the long haul. Students who start with us are assured
of the availability of courses to complete the program with us."
The Murray MBA in Henderson is a welcome development
for prospective students in Henderson, Madisonville, Owensboro (Kentucky)
and Evansville (Indiana) and surrounding areas. Further information on
this and other Murray MBA matters may be obtained from:
