Admissions and Graduate Assistantships

Requirements for admission to the Master of Science program in Chemistry

Students who wish to be considered for admission to graduate study leading toward the Master of Science degree must have a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and have completed an undergraduate major or equivalent in chemistry, with an overall grade point average of at least 2.75, or 2.5 with a minimum score of 800 on the Graduate Record Exam Aptitude Test (v+q). In exceptional cases a student with a lower grade point average may be admitted conditionally, and after completion of nine hours of graduate work may be admitted to full standing by that student's advisory committee. International students must have a score of at least 500 in the Test of English as a Foreign Language.

Full-time students pursuing a planned program of study are eligible for employment in laboratory teaching and other teaching-research areas as Graduate Assistants. Assistantships carry a stipend of up to $7,000 per academic year, as well as remission of out-of-state tuition.

Applications for Admissions and for Graduate Assistantships may be downloaded. The forms are in PDF (portable document format). This allows users to read a document in its original format regardless of the machine platform used. In order to view/print these forms you must have Acrobat Reader 3.0 installed on your machine.
