30th Annual November 9, 2000
The Department of Chemistry at Murray State University, in conjunction with the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS), sponsors the Annual Scholarship Tournament for area high school students who have had or are studying high school chemistry. Each high school is limited to four entrants. Participants are accompanied to the Tournament by a school sponsor, which is usually their chemistry teacher.
20 High Schools from Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri and Tennessee competed in the tournament

Special Awards Special gifts were presented to Larry Conley (Hardin High School), Benna Kaler (Hopkinsville High School) and Mary Seay (Mayfield High School) for bringing students to at least 15 scholarship tournaments.
Thanks to all who made the 30th annual tournament a great success. We always like to thank Dr. Howell Clark, Professor Emeritus of Chemistry, who helped establish this tournament 30 years ago. The picture below shows Dr. Clark (left) talking with Dr. Harry Fannin.
