The non-thesis option requires 33 hours of graduate level course work.  Students must complete 17 hours of formal course work at the 600 level excluding GSC 644 (Graduate Cooperative Education).  Graduate courses offered in other departments that are closely related to the course of study also might be applied to the degree with permission of the Department Graduate Committee.  The student must also take written and oral exams administered by a minimum of four members of the Department Graduate Committee.  The exams usually are taken near the end of the final semester in residence.  Proficiency in quantitative methods through MAT 565 is also required.  These hours do not apply to the 33 hour degree.  More detailed information on the non-thesis option can be found in "Non-thesis Track Masters Program," a departmental publication.
