Memory experts recognize diagrams as superior to lists in committing information to memory. The Bowen’s Reaction Series diagram contains nine minerals pictorially arranged to form a Y. This Y  arrangement can be used as a memory device to correlate and draw inferences for a significant amount of geologic information. Memorize the Y  memory device before establishing it’s relation to the Bowen’s Reaction Series. Information correlated with  the Y diagram can be presented in  the sequence in which introductory geology is presented.
