                 Remaining minerals on the Y are harder than glass

 

Breakage: Quartz and Olivine break with a conchodial fracture
                Muscovite and Biotite cleave in one direction
                Hornblende cleaves in two directions that do not meet at 90
°
                Remaining minerals on the Y cleave in two directions that meet at 90°

 

Special Properties: Anorthite and Albite have twinning striations
                              Olivine almost always has a granular habit
