Applied Mathematics Option

Bachelor of Science / Bachelor of Arts Degree

University Studies Requirements:  43-48 hrs
(see Chapter 4 of the Undergraduate Bulletin, University Studies Requirements)

Required Courses:  31 hrs
    MAT 099 Freshman Orientation
    MAT 250 Calculus and Analytic Geometry I1
    MAT 308 Calculus and Analytic Geometry II1
    MAT 309 Calculus and Analytic Geometry III1
    MAT 312 Mathematical Reasoning
    MAT 335 Matrix Theory and Linear Algebra
    MAT 411 Ordinary Differential Equations
    MAT 442 Introduction to Numerical Analysis
    MAT 540 Mathematical Statistics I

Required Limited Electives:  33-36 hrs
    A.
Nine hours of mathematics courses numbered 400 or above2,3
    B. Two courses in computer science2
    C. Eighteen hours related to the application of mathematics2,3

Unrestricted Electives:  5-13 hrs

Total Curriculum Requirements:  120 hrs

1May be taken as a University Studies elective.
2These courses must be approved by the student's advisory committee.
3The program is very flexible. For example, possible options include, but are not limited to, an emphasis in either Chemistry, Computer Science, Geosciences, Physics, Statistics and Finance, or Actuarial Science.
