The Digital Signal Processing course has a significant design activity each semester. The students must implement a design that usually requires sound or voice input, signal processing done on a computer, and then sound or voice output. Recent design projects include a voice recognition system for security (a very challenging project), a text-to-speech system, and a Dual Tone Multiple Frequency (DTMF) system that can dial or decode (from tones) a telephone number.
