EGR 378 -- Logic Design
Who needs Vegas? The final project in the logic design course is to build a digital circuit that plays a (simplified) game of poker. The type of game varies but blackjack and Hold 'Em are the most popular. The students' designs are implemented on a special device called a Field Programmable Gate Array. The final "test" is a poker game on the last day of class. The players are dealt cards and they enter the cards into their circuit using a set of switches. Winning hands receive chips (i.e., chocolate bars). If a player runs out of chips, they are removed from the game.
